Agriculture and Aquaculture – Chesapeake Bay Videos
Here is a great 3-part series from Terra about agriculture, aquaculture, land development and sustainability in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Disappearing Catch
Farming Forward
Chesapeake Gold
Native Pollinators in Agriculture Video
Prescribed Burning Podcast
Nice little documentary about prescribed burning in Florida longleaf pine system from Terra.
Bison Haze
Terra has a a 3-part video – Bison Haze – about the current bison-cattle conflict near Yellowstone Nat’l Park. These online videos give even-handed treatment to the different interests (ranchers, tribes and conservationists) with a stake in the conflict. This should be a great discussion starter for my class next spring.
Common Sense Conservation
CP33 – Habitat Buffers for Upland Birds – is a relatively new practice available through continuous sign-up Conservation Reserve Program. Specifications for the buffers were designed with northern bobwhite and other grassland birds in mind. A big plus is that economic research suggests these buffers are profitable for the producer, too.
Listen to 4 farmers tell their own story (click image below) about incorporating CP33 Habitat Buffers into their farming operations (courtesy Forestry & Wildlife Research Center at Mississippi State University).
